Your task in 1849 is to build towns, populate them with workers, and make sure that those workers are housed, fed, and entertained. You will have to manage and coordinate extensive production networks to supply workers with their daily requirements, and engage in trade with nearby towns. 1849 features over 50 resources that players can dig up, farm, refine or manufacture as they build more and more complex towns and cities.
1849 is set in a rich visual world. The buildings lining the streets are directly inspired by surviving buildings in California's Gold Country and from photographs dating to the 1850s. The streets and workplaces pulse with activity as the workers of 1849's towns and cities - all in period dress - go about their daily business.
